Finding A Way

Hello everyone,

I know that I always leave it far too long in between posts on my poor old blog.  I get so caught up with my Facebook page and Instagram feed, my blog definitely gets neglected.

I’m here today because I want to tell you about my newest yarn and how I’m hoping to raise funds for the Macmillan.org charity.

Introducing my newest hand dyed yarn to you, in the beautiful colourway Finding A Way.

It’s all about life finding a way. See the flowers pushing their way through the toughest concrete? They’re finding a way. That is my inspiration for this fundraising colourway. Everywhere I look, I see the most delicate of flowers finding their own way through the cracks. It amazes and inspires me each and every time.

I lost half of my thyroid and a great big chunk of my health to cancer. If I can give even just a little to the charities that help other patients and their families, then I will be happy. I’ll have done my bit. I’ll have found my way.

Hand Dyed Yarns are my way. I’m so happy when I’m creating new colours and even more happy when I see what you awesome people have created with them. 🙂

I’m also offering a FREE CROCHET TOASTIE TOES SOCK PATTERN to anyone who wants it, who places a pre-order of this colourway. Starry Night Mandala Pattern & Tutorial

Hello everyone,

I’m here today with a new Mandala design.

I have named it Starry Night, and I created it with a child’s nursery in mind.  With that said however, my own (gold and white) version is hanging happily on the wall of my small home office. Smiles.

I have made this one using Scheepjes Twinkle Yarn in shades 901 and 914.

It works up so quickly and easily you can have this made in a night!

I also worked this up using 4 shades of DK Cotton, and have included both versions of the pattern (2 and 4 colour) in the PDF Download for your convenience.

I love this Starry Night Mandala in both colourways, and to be honest, I’m hooked completely on the whole mandala thing.

So watch this space, there will without a doubt, be more mandala patterns coming. :0)

As always, you can find the pattern in these places;

It’s Written In The Stars!

Good evening everyone, and a very happy Friday to you indeed.

I am very happy to be announcing my very first collaboration with Teri of The Ungrateful Wench on this blog post. :0)

Its Written In The Stars Shawl Wrap

As soon as I saw her truly beautiful hand dyed yarn, I knew what I had to create with it.  And I do mean had to.  Sometimes, every once in a while, there comes along a special kind of yarn that simply speaks to you.  It whispers in your ear, and it tells you what it wants to become.

This was one of those times.  Smiles.

And so, using Blue Galaxy and the contrasting Teal – both in Merino/Nylon 4 ply – I created this stunning It’s Written In The Stars shawl.

The yarn is sublime.  It is so soft it was like working with velvet.  If you take a close look at my tension swatch you will see just how velvety soft it felt.

The shawl pattern itself, is very quick to make up, and it can be done in around a week.  It took me slightly longer due to ill health, but some of my testers  completed it in that time.

It is a fairly easy shawl to create, and the most complex stitches are Front Post, Back Post and Double Treble (UK) / Triple (US.)

I do truly love this shawl so much, and I’m already working on another one.  This time I’m trying it out in a Scheepjes Whirl (I’m using Dandelion Munchies) and it is looking superb too!

More pictures of this delightful shawl are going to be following across the week, both from my testers and from me using the whirl.

If you would like to purchase this gorgeous shawl pattern for yourself,  you can find it in all the usual places (listed below for your convenience.)

Here are some pictures from me using the Scheepjes Dandelion Munchies Whirl. :0)

And here are some pictures from my fabulous testers too! 🙂

On the right (green & floral) is more delicious yarn from Teri of The Ungrateful Wench.

I have also added a short tutorial on working a Front Post Treble stitch into a row of Double Crochet stitches. You can find it on my tutorials page by clicking here.
