Seeing Red!!

Good afternoon everyone!

Well, it is very wet and windy here today.. so awful!

A perfect day for staying home and chilling really.  Smiles.

So I thought I would put this blog post together, to show you one of the latest cards I have made.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Over on the Simply Betty Facebook Group, Betty is holding a few celebrations with lots of awesome prizes.

One of the challenges is to create a monochromatic project.  But!! (And this is the daunting bit!!) Even the skin has to be in keeping with the mono effect.

Now I have done greys before, and blue (once.)

I saw other entries that were brown and green and grey with a pop of colour.

So I decided to be very brave indeed.  I decided to step well and truly out of my comfort zone.

And do my image in (deep breaths here.. )  Reds!!!!

Yes, even the skin!

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m actually amazed at how lovely she looks all in red.  Hehehee.

Honestly, I didn’t think that I could pull it off, but I wanted to have some fun and try anyway.  Because really, that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Fun.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

So here is the (small) pile of Copics I used to bring her to life.

The skin tones were done with the R22. 32. 20 & 30.

The hair & clothes were done with the R59. 37. 35. 32. 30.

The swing was done with the R39. 29. 27. 24 & 22.

It’s the skin I’m most amazed with I think! And those eyes!! Just awesome in red! Smiles.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

The image is called Victorian Swing Betty and you can find her in the Simply B Stamps Store.  And if you grab her this weekend she is on special for just $1!!!

I know right?!

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

My gorgeously red, shiny ribbon and lovely charm are from Whimsy Stars Studio.

The wonderful Queen Of Hearts ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

The awesome sentiment is from Nitwits.

As soon as I completeted my image I knew exactly which sentiment she needed! Smiles.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

You should come join the group.  Betty’s images are fabulously amazing, and the group of people  there is so friendly and supportive too.

(I’m not DT or admin or anything like that. It just genuinely is am amazing place to be.)

The challenges I would really like to enter into with this all red loved up creation are:-

Craft For The Craic – February Birthday or Anniversary.

Digi Galore – Anything Goes.

Kit and Clowder – Love.

Open Minded Crafting Fun – Up In The Air.

Patti’s Creations – Valentines Love.

Suzy Bee’s – Anything Goes/Monochrome.

Elegant AND Practical!!

Now surely that has to be a great mix! Right?

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Ta Dah!!!!

(I have been waiting all week to post this!! Hehehee.)

Fabulous isn’t she?

She is called Chante Chantelle and she is part of a brand new range of  Mocktail Girls available from the super talented Amy at Amy Doodle Stamp!

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

To bring her to life I used my Copics in these shades:-

GE DIGITAL CAMERA   Clothes.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA       Eyes.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA     Skin.

Hair colours are E18 & 15. YR21 & Y21.

Lips R24.

I apologise here, my camera battery died a death on me.  And I don’t mean it needed recharging either.. I had to order a new battery.  (Quietly sobs in the corner here.. I was LOST without my camera!!)

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Okay, so my heart shapes were cut on my Silhouette Cameo machine.

Those Resin Flowers (which are STUNNING by the way!) I got from an online store in the US.  But they are actually from Kaiser Craft (which is an Australian Company.)

I’m in the UK so they’ve had quite a journey haven’t they?  Smiles.

My papers are from Bearly Mine Designs who very, very, sadly does not trade anymore.

Not since these ridiculously restrictive new VAT laws were introduced as of the New Year.

So many fabulous digital companies have closed their doors.  Sometime I am so NOT proud to be British!

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

What I created is a telephone note pad.

The reason?  Well, I’m sure you all know what it’s like when you go to write down a message and there is no pen, nor paper to be found anywhere!! Laughing.

Yes.. and that happens a lot in our house.  (But hey!  Not anymore!) Big smiles.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

This is what it looks like with no paper added.  The lining of the box matches the rest of my easel holder.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the holder all folded up.  (Not that I have this folded. Ever.  No, I have it very proudly on display right by that telephone!  Hehehee.)

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

The side and back view.

(Yes the back got decorated too. Well you just never know. Right?)

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

I really do love this so very much, especially how those fabulous folds turned out!!!

I have always held a secret fear of folds when it comes to my Copic Colouring.  But well, as you can probably tell from my ramblings here, that fear is held no more!

(MASSIVE SMILES HERE!!!!)

Over on the  Amy Doodle Stamp Facebook Page we have been holding a little competition all week long.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning the Cutely Amazing Chante Chantelle is to leave a comment on each of the DT creations using her.

Yes, you read that right. Just pop on by and leave us all a comment.  That’s it!  Nice and Easy.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

The really cool (and simple) tutorial for creating this easel notepad holder can be found here.

As you can see, the designs here are slightly different to mine, as I added a full back and then bent my card very lightly.

I found (for me anyway) that it looked more uniform at the back, and offered slightly more stability.)

I can’t wait to see what you create with your Chante Chantelle.

Be sure to show your make on our Facebook Page won’t you?!

Hugs n Happy Crafting Everyone!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Today I am bringing you  something a little different to my usual type of card.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

I was asked to take part in Anne Lise’s challenge, and was given a lovely sheet to work with which included Vintage images and elements.

The sponsor is High Tea Design on Etsy and I fell in love with them in an instant.

It has really made me want to create more vintage, just so that I can use their wonderful designs!  Hehehee.

I don’t often do vintage and always find it a challenge to create.

I think it’s one of those things where you have to do it and do it, before you can get good at it. Smiles.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

But anyway, this is what I created, and I’m pleased with it.

The postcard, tags, bird and girl are all from the sheet.

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Those beautiful ribbons & lace are from my crafty cupboard.  (Possibly my favourite cupboard of all.. LOVE my ribbon!! Smiles.)

My flowers I have had an absolute age, but they were originally from Wild Orchid Crafts.

(I’m at that point where I have had them so long, I know that I have to use them.  But I really don’t want to see them go. Laughing at myself here.)

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

My paper is from Michelle Roos Design and is from the “By The Sea” set.

My “vintage” edging is done with my Tim Holtz Distress Raw Honey Ink Pad.

I also used my ink pad on the tips of my flowers too.

To check out everyone’s gorgeous creations just click the link here.

It’s a great challenge and we’re all looking forward to seeing what you create.  Smiles.

Hugs n Happy Crafting Everyone!
