Another post from me today!
If you would like to see my Sweet Pea Stamps card for the Outlawz then just click here. Smiles.
This post is to do with something which is very important to me.
My husband had hearing diffuculties as a child, as did one of my best friends at school. And it does make life very hard sometimes.
Today Little Miss Muffet Stamps is sponsoring a special young girl, Cassandra, who is deaf. She also happens to be the 11-year-old daughter of Barbara, who owns Little Miss Muffet Stamps, and she is one of Barbara’s muses when drawing images. Cassandra attends a public school and has asked for real-time captioning (RTC). RTC is where a captionist will type up what is spoken in class and display it on a tablet so she can read information that she has missed. Without it, she struggles every day and has to guess at the meaning of half-heard words and sentences.
This event is to raise awareness and to spread the word. You can read more about her story HERE and sign the petition HERE. For each signature we receive, the school administrators receive and email regarding our request. I hope you can help me fill their inboxes!
To support this petition, and to spread the word, Little Miss Muffet Stamps has released a dozen new images to play with. Plus there is a freebie in the store for everyone to join in. We’d love to see what you’ll create… but more importantly, we hope you can help Cassandra by signing the petition and spreading the word.
The Little Misses have been using these fun images too!
So be sure to stop by their blogs and and check them all out too!xx
Here’s what I created for you today.
The dies I used are Labels 17 from Spellbinders and Stitched Rectangles from By DIEZyne at CC Designs Stamps.
To bring Luna Bitterfrost In Love to life, I used my Copics in the following shades:-
My papers are Echo Park, and the feather is from my stash.
The flowers are Petal Lu.
If you want to go the extra mile, there are other actions you can do, too. You can write to the school and let them know this is unacceptable. You can also write to Cassandra or send her a card of support. She is such a sweet girl and strives to follow the rules. But like many other children her age with special needs, she feels alone and doesn’t understand why she can’t be herself all the time. Help her feel normal and be a strong voice in support of her desires. Below are the addresses of the school administrator’s office and also Cassandra’s address.
