I’m Karen and I’m a forty-something mum to five wonderful children, and wife to an amazing man.
Growing up I was always very creative, but not with crochet hooks or knitting needles or anything like that. My creativity came in the form of words. Wherever you happened to find me on any given day, I generally had a pen and paper pad in hand.
Then a new love affair began and my writing (quite unintentionally) went by the wayside.
You see, I had babies and I fell totally head over heels in love. Smiles.
While I was pregnant I “found” knitting again after not doing it throughout my teenage years. It was slow and painful mostly but I did manage to create a handful of gorgeous garments and blankets for my little angels. But sadly, I never really enjoyed it that much. It was never destined to become my biggest passion.
Over the years I tried and failed miserably to learn to crochet. No matter what I tried, I simply couldn’t do it. I felt so sad because I had always adored all things crochet and I used to ooh and aah whenever I saw a lovely crocheted item in all of it’s wonderful glory.
Then one day, I just happened to come across a wonderful little book one day called “Stich n Bitch Crochet – The Happy Hooker.” And you know what? I have never looked back since!
This book taught me so much, and in such a simple way. It was an absolute gem of a find. And without it, I doubt that I would be where I am today. So if you find yourself struggling a little, and wondering if this really is your “hobby”?? Click the link above to have a look, because believe me “The Happy Hooker” may just save your life too! Smiles.
I am spending so many hours creating beautiful pieces, and when I’m not actually making I am thinking up new creations in my head.
I hope that my blog brings you a little something to make you smile, and that in some small way my creations brighten your day.
