Golden Snitch Chocolate Orange Cover!

Hello everyone!

And a very happy December to you all.  :0)

I cannot believe how long it has been since I posted here.  I’ve been so caught up with the usual seasonal rush, and getting Christmas gift projects finsihed, that the time has just whizzed by.

The biggest project by far (ever, not this Christmas time or even this year!) has been the Stormtrooper Blanket.

I created this masterpiece from 625 little solid granny squares at 3 rounds per square (11 sts each side on the final round.) I used Stylecraft Yarns Special Double Knit in Black, White, Graphite and Silver.  You find the yarns here.

If you’re crazy enough to want to try this one for yourself ;0) you can find the graph  on Ravelry here for it.

The main reason I’m blogging today, is because I wanted to share this free pattern with you all.

Golden Snitch Choc Orange Cover

If you’re a true Harry Potter fan I won’t need to explain what this is.  But for those of you who have been living in a cave in recent years, this is a Golden Snitch Chocolate Orange Cover.

If you’re not a HP fan, then you probably have no interest in making this at all, unless you are lucky enough to know a HP fan! Smiles.

This is really a very simple Christmas project to make, and last year I created 5 of these.

They went down a treat!!

Anyway, here is the pattern for you all.  Please do not sell the pattern or any part of it as your own.  Copyright remains with me (Kernow Designs.) Including my photographs without prior permission.

You may sell your finished items but not the pattern.  Please link back to me (or my blog) if you post pictures of your finished makes online.  Thank you.

Waving Goodbye To October

Hello everyone!

This post is all about waving Goodbye to October, and looking ahead to November and making a pledge (to myself) that I am going to get the Stormtrooper blanket finished this next month.

I first began this back in April of LAST year!! (I know. I know.) We owned a pub, and life got very busy, then it got packed away and fogotten about. And when we moved I found it again.

And ever since September, I have been making LOTS and LOTS of these little squares, all in Black and White and Graphite and Grey.

Every now and again, I have to take a break and work with COLOUR again.  Grins.

Hence the very productive October I have had.

As you can see, I have managed to fit quite a lot of colour in too! Smiles.

The bottom right is the dreaded blanket.

The centre square is a little something to add a smile.

The middle left is my all time favourite make from the whole year, and you can find the blog post (and pattern links) here.

The hook roll (top middle) is the design I created for The Monthly Variety Box.  I’m the designer for that one in both March and November next year too, and I feel so excited to be a part of it.

Hayley is thinking of starting a monthly Mini box too, so it’s always worth clicking the link, and popping over to take a look.

Bottom middle is the #butterflypocket which I designed FREE for the charity #uponbutterflywings.  You can find out more (and grab the pattern download links) here.

I’m looking forward to November, I have the #beadedmittens pattern to finalise (it’s with my testers now) as well as the fingerless gloves.

I will be releasing the #prettypastelshookroll pattern for general sale this weekend.

And I WILL FINISH THAT STORMTROOPER BLANKET (Just watch this space!)  Smiles.

Wishing you all a very happy Halloween.

Butterfly Pocket Free Pattern.

Good morning everyone, I hope that you have sunshine wherever you are

Three Butterfly Pockets

I must warn you that this is a sad post, so you need to choose whether or not to read on.

Today I want to talk about a non profit organisation, run by Lucy of @uponbutterflywings (I have done a previous post here where I designed a tiny baby hat.)

Pink butterfly pocket closedPink butterfly pocket open

Lucy donates keepsakes and garments to hospitals and funeral directors, etc, for babies born sleeping (8-34 weeks.) This is something which is very close to my heart and I wanted to create something myself.

The first pattern I designed was the baby hat, and this one is a little pocket cocoon.  I have called it the Butterfly Pocket For Preemies, and you can find it on both Ravelry and (Just click on either of the links and you’ll be taken right to the pattern.)

Of course, the pattern is FREE and you are welcome to download it and use it as you wish.

But I would really love if you could create and donate to Lucy at Upon Butterfly Wings.  This type of item is on her list of what is most needed.  The pockets take less than two hours to do, and use around 50 grams of yarn.

I made three in one afternoon/evening, and I have half a ball of each yarn still left too.

There are lots of links for sizes and preferable colours, as well as other patterns on the Upon Butterfly Wings website.

You can also find Upon Butterfly Wings on Facebook too. They accept knitted and crocheted items, as well as sewn garments. If you would like to help, please visit the website or FB page for more information.
